His show career to date includes 3 regional and 1 national UDC events. he has garnered 2 "Best Baby" awards, earned 2 CC's and a Best Opposite from Youth classes and 1 CC and Reserve Winners Dog from his only time shown in Adult classes. Hopefully 2017 will bring him the final CC required for his UDC CH as well as a finish to his UKC CH.
In only 2 Dock Diving events in 2016, Grits completed his Senior Jumpers titled and flew into the Masters division, ending only 1 jump shy of earning that title and with a Personal Best of 21'6"! He has officially outjumped both his mother and grandmother and we are super excited to hit the docks in 2017 and also get back to finishing up his UAD title started in 2015.

Our main focus continues to be IPO work and we took the first step by earning his BH in 2016. With the ticks being less severe in the past 2 years I have dared to do a bit more tracking and possibly having him polished enough to enter IPO rather than APr, as I have with his dam and granddam. Despite this optimism, this past season resulted in Grits contracting the loathesome Lyme Disease which so devastated his granddam, Caper. We shall see as Spring and Summer unfold just how willing I am to take this risk again. Grits is a powerhouse in protection work with full, crushing grips and high fight drive which have earned him enthusiastic praises from every helper that has worked him. He was only worked a few times in 2016 and will need to focus on the control work next season as we aim for the trial field. I am excited to blend this power with his love of obedience and his willingness to please.
Unfortunately Grits underwent surgery for a torn CCL (knee ligament) which ended up sidelining him for the entire 2017 season. We had SUCH big plans and fully expected to finish his UDC and UKC Championships, his Master Jumper title in Dock diving and either an APr1 or IPO1 on the sport field. So, as we continue to rehabilitate his knee and muscles with physical therapy and chiropractics we have had to accept re-setting our sights on 2018. It's been a tough season for both of us. This boy Loves to work and play and not being allowed to do much of either has been a heartbreaker.
2018 HAS to be the reward!
